One side needs a reliable home. The other needs a reliable income. We sort both.

I started buying properties in Hartlepool over ten years ago with no intention of building a letting agency. I just wanted to build myself a future in a town that I love.

I would find properties that needed work – the ones other people walked past – strip them back, renovate them properly, and rent them out to people who needed somewhere decent to live. I managed every tenancy myself. I dealt with the repairs, took the calls, and built relationships with my tenants directly. It was hands-on from the start and I would not have had it any other way.

As the portfolio grew, I started using letting agents to help manage it. And that is where the frustration began. Agents who were impossible to reach. Contractors who never turned up. Tenants left waiting weeks for repairs that should have taken days. I was paying for a service that was not being delivered – and my tenants were the ones paying the real price.

So I stopped outsourcing it and built what I actually wanted to exist. An agency run by people who understood property from the inside, who held landlords to a proper standard, and who treated tenants like customers rather than a nuisance. That became Storm Lettings.

Today we manage over 300 properties across the North East and Storm Lettings is part of the wider Storm Property Group – covering lettings, investments, developments and property management. But the standards have not changed. We still renovate before we let. We still vet every landlord. And we still pick up the phone.

How we work

We only work with landlords who have been vetted by us and who share our commitment to maintaining their properties properly. In return, we find tenants who are serious about settling in for the long term – people who pay on time, look after the place, and treat it as their home. Because it is.

For our tenants, that means repairs handled without chasing, a team you can actually get hold of, and a landlord who takes their responsibilities seriously. For our landlords, it means lower voids, tenants who stay, and a property that holds its value.

One agency. Two sides. Everyone looked after.

“We started this from a coffee shop table with one phone between us. No office, no systems, just a commitment to doing right by the landlords and tenants who trusted us. We now have £25 million under management across the North East – but what I am proudest of is that we still know our landlords and tenants personally. That connection is everything. It is why the standards stay high and why there is still so much more we can do to raise the bar in this industry.”

Based in Hartlepool. Working across the North East.

Our office is on Church Street in Hartlepool. We are not a national brand running operations from a call centre. We are a local agency that grew out of this area – and Storm Lettings is now part of the Storm Property Group, which brings together lettings, investments, developments and asset management under one roof.

Regulated and accredited

Storm Lettings is a member of the National Residential Landlords Association, the Tenancy Deposit Scheme, and the Property Redress Scheme. Every tenancy is managed in line with current legislation and deposits are held in a government-approved protection scheme.
